Obituary of Genese Carter

passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 surrounded by her daughters.

Preceded in death by husband, Robert E. Carter; twin sister, Geneva Busby Sullivan; granddaughter, Sarah Green.

Survived by daughters, Eva (Wayne) Green and Andrea (Allen) Jones, Sr.; granddaughter, Monica Schartz; great-grandchildren, Carter, Ava and Sadie; step grandchildren, Tammy Firebaugh, Sephanie Carmak and Allen Jones, Jr.

Genese was born 5 minutes after her twin sister Geneva.  Their parents Eugene and Eva LeFevers Busby now deceased.  Genese attended East Nashville High School and was awarded a working scholarship to Vanderbilt University.  In 1953, she married Robert E. Carter and lived in Columbia, SC and Maryland before moving to Germany.  When back in Nashville, she gave birth to Eva and Andrea. 

She wrote and recorded 20 sacred folk songs.  She sang for patients in local hospitals at Christmas and Easter, accompaning herself on the autoharp.
